The close up shows the decorating details. The large comedy/tragedy masks and silver stars are covered in gold foil; the body of the float is covered in paper sheeting.  The piping is wrapped in Christmas garland (Christmas decorating was once our largest business). This self-propelled float was built on a tractor - notice how the driver had to enter through the hatch on the side. Some visibility is provided out the front and sides.
